- 1 roofing square = 100 sq ft (9.3 m²) - this is the standard unit
- 3 bundles per square for standard 3-tab shingles
- 4-5 bundles per square for architectural/dimensional shingles
- Hip roofs need 15-20% more material due to extra cuts
- Steeper pitches require more material (same footprint = more surface area)
- Don't forget starter strips, ridge caps, and flashing

Roof pitch affects the actual surface area. Use these multipliers:
